Ice knew inside that Kiro was right, but he was too proud to admit it. He just rolled his eyes and stalked away.

Ruby had heard everything that was said from inside the den. "Oh, I hope Kiro is safe!"

Kiro’s gaze followed Ice as the coyote walked off. Then Kiro turned to his den and walked inside. ”Are you alright?” he asked
 
"Me too," agreed Ruby, also sighing. "Things were going perfectly before he started causing trouble. And I didn't even know him! Why would he want to be my mate so fast? Yes, I've seen him from a distance a few times. What we've NEVER talked together...at least, alone that is." She sighed again. "And besides, I wouldn't even have said yes to him."

Kiro sighed. ”I wish I knew why he's going after you. For now, we’ll just have to be on the lookout, I guess.”
