Ashera finished feeling and scooted her tiny body closer to her father again, sleeping against his stomach. For a 2 day old puppy she was very exploitative. Jasper felt her and smiled. He had a family and he was not going to let them go.

Orchid licked the Cubs and told them to stay put. She walked into the night and ran, faster and faster, loving the feel of the cool, crisp autumn weather at night. She sat by the river, barely panting and watched with nighttime fish, thinking about the last time she had been out at night... it had been so long.
