Hooray! Update on first hatch...come chat with me!

Hooray! My little peeping egg hatched overnight! Momma silkie has the lil biddy under her and is being very protective, so I have only seen a glimpse or two. I couldn't resist lifting her up to see once.

She kicked one egg out. The same one she's kicked out a bunch of times and it was cold again, so we opened it to a dead chickie.

But there's still one egg under her that has a chance. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for one more.

But.... I'm thrilled that at least 1 made it!

Congratulations!
I just hatched out 20 new babies in a bator since Thursday and I can't quit going to the brooder to look at them.....of course I have it in my dining room with the computer right now so it is real easy to just keep checking them every couple minutes - especially when they start screaming and I find Stripe is terrorizing his siblings!
