Hoover’s Hatchery Heritage Turkey Variety Pack

I recently ordered 10 Assorted Heritage poults from Hoover’s Hatchery. I am in Alaska, what are your experiences with this “pack” and/or hatchery? What breeds did you recieve? (Their website lists the possibilities)
The poults are scheduled to hatch 03/14, were your order(s) bumped?
Thanks.
I have received my poults and will now use this thread for updates and a review of my order

My poults arrived in just 48 hours, all alive despite being shipped all the way to Alaska in cold weather and snow on the ground. Two were lethargic, however I am very pleased as I was expecting far worse.
I received 5 Bourbon Reds, 4 Narragansett, and 1 Royal Palm (as far as I can tell). I am very pleased with this assortment and highly recommend this hatchery to others in Alaska.

Hoover’s does not provide tracking numbers, however our post office required us to know it (it became crucial later). They responded within 24 hours, providing my tracking number.

Our poults made it to our city, however they were sent to a different PO than expected; using the tracking number and calling around frantically we were able to locate the little ones.

Poults have a tendency to drop like flies so I will keep this thread updated, recommendations on care appreciated!

Edit to add: there was no heat pack, or insulation in the box, only fine straw.

Thanks for mentioning that there was no heat pack or extra insulation-- it's nice to know how that hatchery packs them. (Although yours obviously did not need a heat pack or extra insulation, given that they did arrive alive and in fairly good shape!)

Great glad to hear all your poults arrived safely and quick. Hopefully all will do well for you, that nutri-drench should get them up and going. Sounds like you have it under control ENJOY.

We did add a Cornish cross chick as recommended by our local poultry shop owner, thankfully because these guys wouldn’t eat otherwise.
Poults naturally peck at things on the ground. I use sand for my brooder bedding because it is free for the digging here.

I sprinkle turkey starter on the sand and they find it and start eating very quickly. It can take them several days to figure out that the stuff in the feeder is also food. Using my method, I find no need to use a tutor chick.

I don't know what you are using for bedding but don't recommend wood chips for the first couple of weeks. They can eat the wood chips. If they are not getting appropriate sized grit at the time, they can become impacted and die from the inability to digest the wood chips.
