Hoover hatchery Cornish cross mini rant

The box was only supposed to contain only Cornish cross.

I called and tractor supply offered to have hoover resend the chicks but I politely declined so they made right with a refund.

As far as the bins at the stores going, our tractor supply sometimes has the wrong breeds labeled but I don't blame the workers. They just work there. They are usually pretty good about it. I walked by the chicks last weekend and one lady was getting barred rock pullets and there were quite a few with large white spots on their heads. 😬

I was curious to see what the nuggets gained over 1 night, the three little amigos gained a gram each and the 7 little dwarfs gained about 10 grams each.

Weight check tonight but here's some cuteness. Ps the cat won't eat anything unless it's dead and in kibble form so the chicks safe. 😁

What a difference a week makes. Unfortunately the littlest hoover baby passed away. I gave it every chance but it was too far gone when I got it. Not really much to go on to compare hoover to ideal now that its 2 against 7. One of the hoovers is catching up pretty quickly but the second one is probably going to be a 2 pound bird at this rate. Tonight they go on a 12 on and 12 off schedule of food and they are not going to be happy about that. its interesting to see how they gain week to week. I've never weighed them this in depth before. 22% chick starter is what they are currently getting.

Big difference
I don't know if I've had such a lazy group 😁. I don't have a big yard so they get access to a shed with heat lamp and grass currently and they want to stay in the shed all day. Previous groups have been running all over the place. I'll kick them out at 3 weeks. It's plenty warm enough for sure. I've had ravens eyeing them this week so little leary of that. Though I wouldn't put it past them. I'd like to see a raven carry off a 2 pound meat bird. 😬
Hanging the feeder so they have to stand makes a huge difference I think. Build up those little drumsticks
