Hoover hatchery Cornish cross mini rant

Lazy days. I think corn and chicken pair well together.

I ordered 10 buff orpington chicks from Hoover's through TSC.
Luckily they all came alive and healthy. Unfortunately, they sent a mystery chick which turned out to be a meat bird. I don't recommend hoover's at all!

That's a little bit of a difference in breeds. Someone tried to escape to freedom I'm guessing. Are you planning on keeping it?
 
ordered meat birds from Purely Poultry and they were small just like the one from Hoovers ..of course eight weeks later you would not have believed they were the same birds as they grow so fast
 
Week 5 is here minus 1 meat bird who couldn't walk very well so it went to camp a little early. Only dressed out at 3 pounds but it wasn't going to make it much longer so didn't want to waste it. I don't know why this group is growing so fast, I haven't done anything different than I normally do. I'm not complaining about the extra meat, I just hope they make it to the 8 week goal.
