Does anybody have any experience with Hoover's Hatchery for broilers. I got a order of 50 yesterday. 9 were dead upon arrival and we lost 6 with in the first 2 hours. So know 24 hours later we have lost 19 birds all together. I have never lost this many birds. I could understand a couple but not this much. This is also the first time I have ever tried Hooover's. Just wondering how other people have done with Hoover's bird.

Thanks

This was our first time also with Hoovers. We got our order last Thursday of 60 broilers. Broilers are an investment and you just have to kind of accept some losses. Last year we only raised 25 from McMurray Hatchery and only lost 2 or 3 to natural causes. Alot of it depends on the stress of shipping, temperature, weather, etc etc. Good luck and I hope the rest do ok too. You just never know how it is going to go with them.

I relize your going to lose some but a almost 50% loss is crazy.

Please call them on Monday and let them know. They will credit your account. Things happen beyond their control. Shipping poultry is a risk, and even the big guys have to deal with the postal service.
Be sure to feed the ones that are living broiler booster and/or vitamins to settled them in.

In the past few years I have got my broilers from Hoovers. Never had more than a couple losses and never any from shipping.

Sorry, it must be frustrating.

Since we are talking about Hoover's, has anyone else had problems with their website? When I go to the site, Firefox (my web browser) just shuts down. Hmmm

I called them and they credited me for some of the lost. I just suprised that they didn't overnight the shipment. It took 2 days to get them to me. I have been giving them electrolytes and vitamins in there water since the first day. They seem to be doing good now.

Thanks

We ordered 25 buff orpies form Hoovers 2 weeks ago. We received 27, all are doing well. One is a little stunted and had a pasting problem, she now has a bare bottom. They shipped on a Wednesday and were at the post office Thursday morning. Shipping distance probably helped, Iowa to central Wisconsin.

I live in California and bought 25 chicks from them last week, of which 19 were broilers. They arrived the day after the ship out date. Out of the 27 chicks that they sent only 1 Cornish Cross died (two days later). They even color-marked the chicks and included a page explaining which chick is what color so you can identify the different breeds! Really great hatchery and will definitely purchase from them again!
