Hop, ramp walk, or fly?????

Do your chickens hop down from a higher to lower roosts, walk down a ramp, or fly to the floor of your coop?

It's more of a controlled fall with alot of flapping, straight from the roost (5') to the floor of the coop

Some of mine will hop down to the lower roost and then to the floor, others wait until the "people" door is open and then they will fly out, landing in the yard.

The hop from perch to perch and then hop onto the floor with a big Thunk. I can hear it outside the coop. It is especially loud when my hefty BR hops off her perch that is the foot off the ground

then I hear a huge THUNK!!!

Although my roosts are only 4' high, my sussexes fly down, rather inaccurately and "plummetingly". They are not the most agile critters

Mine hop from the top roost to the second roost, then jump with a lot of flapping to the floor. There is a ramp, and they will sometimes use this but I have not seen them do it often.

OK, those hopping and flapping chickens seem to out number the ramp walking group.

Good to know for coop construction. I'm beginning to wonder if building a ramp is worth the effort.
