ok so i scrambled an egg yolk for my day old chick. It seems to like it. after all a chic can live off of the rest of yolk it absorbs in egg for about a day. thats why they can be shipped in mail. so you would think scrambled yolks would be fine. i will start putting some sandy soil in its food tomorrow. does this sound ok?

It does have chick starter right? There is really no need for treats so early in life. Chick starter has exactly what they need for a healthy diet and treats can take away from that. Welcome to the site and best of luck!

i have to wait till tomorrow to get chic starter because i have to drive 1 hr. to get it. our local farm store only sells 50lb bags of it. dont think i need that much for one chic. yea it sucks.

Glad you joined us! Egg yolk is great food for little chicks, yes. No problem there. I would suggest you try and get a friend or 3 for the little one though. Chickens are social creatures and they do much better in groups or pairs.

so I now have two chicks that have hatched. I fed them egg yolks for several days mixed with a little sand. they ate it and loved it! I now have organic chick food which they also love. Thanks for all the feedback. I love this site! wooohoo!
