His face when I showed him Sharon was priceless.

Makes sense why she was late!! Must have been putting on her eyeliner! Here is āNuggetā, #7!!!! She is so cute. Maybe barred rock cross? She has more black than anyone else. What do you guys think?
Iāve seen a few different pictures she may be a Wyandotte with just a different expression of markings!Yay go Nugget
She is very cute
I thought barred chicks were mostly black with a white head spot though, correct me if Iām wrong

Iād probably do a safety hole just in case, since all the others have hatched Iād consider opening the egg, but thatās meNumber 4 hasnāt shown any movement or pipping today. I am going to do a quick candle to see if it has pipped internally.
Well, I candled the egg in less than 30 seconds and returned it. I don't know that I learned a lot; I can't tell if it was pipped. Just looks like a dark shadow and the air cell, it kind of looked like something was going on, but I don't know if I should make a safety hole before I leave just in case. I will just leave her in there for another day and see what happens. Maybe she is shy and will hatch in the night, or maybe she wasn't meant to be. Hopefully I didn't do any harm by candling her really quickly. The incubator was hot and humid when I returned her, and she was only out for maybe 30 seconds tops. I can't imagine it is any harsher than being kicked around incessantly by her siblings!
Okay. I took her, held her up over a cup of hot steamy water to keep from dehydrating or chilling her, and carefully made a pinhole using a pushpin in the shell in the air cell. It's the size of a tack so hopefully that is big enough for air exchange. I avoided anywhere that her beak might block. It looks normal inside to me (based on candling), she has a nicely sized air cell and most of the egg is taken up by her body. There is a weird darkish shape but it's not emerging from the blob where she should be, if that makes any sense. It looks like discoloration on the inside of the shell on the bulbous end of the air cell. It is not emerging out of the shadow of her body like I have seen in the pictures, where it is beak or head shaped. It's kind of rectangular and maybe is just part of the shell? Didn't see movement or hear peeping. But I didn't see movement when I candled on day 18 either from anyone. Hoping she is a late bloomer. Fingers are crossed that she may be waiting for us in the morning! But I am still feeling very blessed and happy with my 6 other chicks.Iād probably do a safety hole just in case, since all the others have hatched Iād consider opening the egg, but thatās me
Maybe sheās facing the wrong way, and her butt is in the air cellOkay. Come on Hunnicutt! We are rooting for you!![]()
I will definitely open it up tomorrow if sheās looking the same as she has today. Iāll let it be if sheās wiggling, peeping, etc. but I really hope I wake up to another little chick tomorrow!Maybe sheās facing the wrong way, and her butt is in the air cell
I would likely just open up the egg if she doesnāt hatch tonight, or create a cap so you can see if sheās breathing at all
