Hoping for Araucana or Ameraucana

Its not the rumpless gene that is bad when bred together, its the tufted gene. Those birds definetly have a lot Araucana in them. My guess is Araucana/ Ameraucana or EE, or Araucana bred to the European standard and not ours. Not all Araucanas have tufts so the lack of tufts on these doesnt mean they arent Araucanas. The muffs and beards indicate either a mix with EE's or Ameraucanas or European standard Araucanas.

About your eggs: I have two red sex-link x white Ameraucana hens who lay small grey eggs that are almost all yolk. My neighbor's "pure" Ameraucanas lay the loveliest medium-sized green, blue and pink eggs. My two little mutts are sort-of football-shaped, have red and white feathers in no particular pattern and little bitty heads and hardly any combs, like the size of a couple of fingernail clippings, definately not beauty pageant material, but good tempered and healthy. Their red sex-link mommies are big and red and lay huge brown eggs and dad is very upright, short-backed and flashy. You wouldn't know the mutts are from the same chickens, but that's what happens when you breed indiscriminately. OK... When I breed indiscriminately!

I was told that breeding a blue egg gene roo to a non-blue egg gene pea combed hen can almost "cancel out" the roos blue egg gene pea comb. I would think you are better off using your orp, and expecting that the pea combed offspring have a better chance of laying colored eggs.

FYI, only in England and Australia they breed for bearded, crested and tailed araucanas. The rest of Europe breeds rumpless, tufted just like in North America.

I would say they are AmerX Arau at this point, they don't look like they have been bred to any standard.
