So, I had a buff orp get pecked/picked on the first time we integrated. Well the good news is she is all healed and feathered back out!! I put her back in the coop...she still has some blu-kote left on her. I tried to integrate yesterday, but they went right for her blue neck.

So I bought some bag balm, lubed her up and I think it is working. The rhode island hens picked at her, but it was like they were cleaning her getting shavings off of her. The other buff (who went for her neck yesterday) tried again but was taken aback by the bag balm for now.

So Dear Hubby convinced me to leave her in the coop tonight. I just went out to shut in the coop, two rhodes islands were settled, the other buff was roosting for the night, the roosters in the metal dog crate inside the coop was settled in for the night. She was settled in the door way so I had to push her in. The other chickens didn't get up....

So she made it through her first night in the coop with the girls without problems. She had no signs of being picked on at all.

Hoping for another successful night and morning..

When I add birds to any pen that already is occupied, I put them in at night. They don't seem to know that the bird is new when you do it that way.

So my injured (now healed) buff pullet made it through night 2.

Hoping she'll make it to night and day 3 with no problems.

After night three, I just might clean out the infirmary tote. I've been afraid too because I didn't know how the integration process would go.

Hoping for day and night 3 to be successful.
