When I had sheep lambing I would always have nightmares of two headed lambs from my fave ewe. Turns out she always had twins but not 2-headed ones. Thank Goodness.
Miss Prissy, I have those kinds of dreams too, I made a trough warter out of a pepsi bottle for the 21 ducklings that my Moscovy hen hatched out last Sun-Mon. (all I did was kept the lid on pepsi bottle and cut a rectangler hole in the side about an inch and a half wide. you know horizontally and then wire in to the run so the ducklings could reach it!) I had a dream that night that when I went to check on them all the duckling were in the pepsi bottle couldn't get out and drowned. When I woke I couldn't get to them fast enough! I went down to their run, and what did I find, yes you guessed it a duckling was swimming in the warter! It was fine, and was able to get out, but I was sure I made the hole small enough! Never under estimate the will power of a duckling!I will post a pic of what I made!

Miss Prissy, here is the pic I said I would post of the trough warter I made out of the pepsi bottle!
Looking at how big I made the hole it is more like 2-21/2 in wide! LOL!! No wonder a duckling could fit in there to swim!!!LOL!!!
Yikes they look so dirty!!
I used pipe cleaners to wire them to the run, all I could find in short notice!!
I can turn the hole up or down depending on how full it is, this way the water is always level to the hole.
and when they get bigger I can always wire it higher, maybe with some kind of straps, metal or something?
It works good so far and I haven't seen anymore swimming in it!LOL!
Thanks for looking,
Brenda
You don't have to tell me about dirty. I have geese and have raised ducks! I am trying to make it easy on myself this time around. I have 15 duck eggs in the bator and 15 coming from Holderread's. I need ideas and good ways to supply lots of water to many ducklings! I love this idea.
