horizontal nipples for chicks?

I plan on using a nipple water system for my bantams that will be here Thursday from day 1, will the chicks learn quickly? since they are usually pretty dehydrated i want to make sure they get enough water

I've had good luck with my chicks catching on right away with horizontal nipples. I have left a dish of water for them for a few days, but as long as one of them can do the nipples, they'll all figure it out. I haven't had bantams, so YMMV.

Mine took to their baby bottle immediately. This is their only water source.
Just watch to make sure you see each and every chick drink from it.

I’d recommend vertical at first then horizontal at a few weeks old when you’re sure they have the neck strength to engage the horizontal nipples.

Mine (standard size) have been on horizontal since week two and have done super.
