Horny drake

I love that he is shouting at you in the photograph of him standing on the pink towel. Its good that he has opinions about his care -- apathy is a bad sign in an infected duck.

The booties look great.

Good idea to bring him and a buddy into the house for the duration of his treatment!!

Keep us in the loop on progress!

I brought in his brother. That’s him trying to bite me😂 he was just standing like that🤣

Oh no! I think he has them in both. I’m going to ask his previous owner if she noticed this as he is new. I’ve only had for for about a week.
His brother is joining him today

He kept trying to bang his brother. Is this bad for the other dude? And also he kept shoving his head under water is he gonna get hurt?
His feet keep getting wet. He spills his water every time I put it in there and then spills his food and it all mixes together and makes his wraps disgusting. Ican’t put him outside because the pen is wet everywhere and I have a young hen who will get hurt if he bangs her. How do I keep his feet dry? This is them when I took them booties off and they are absolutely gross and will probably infect his feet because I am at school 7-3:30 so I can’t change them and no one else in my house can because they are also gone all day. Also, the shower he is staying in is about 3.5x4.5 so it is pretty small so should I leave his brother with him or put him by himself? His brother would also be by himself in a pen. Also, when should I peel the scab off? I did for one of the feet, but it was in little pieces so it was difficult to do. The other posts about duck bumble foot seem like it gone off in one piece. Should I wait for the other foot to be easier to peel off? And he has eye discharge. around his eye seem a little red Is this from his bumble foot? The bumble was pretty big because his old owner never noticed and I just got him and some said he had it.

Thai is his feet from yesterday. The first one was the one with the scab peeled off and the second is the bigger one with the scab still on
The last photos are of his brothers missing toenail on the back toe.

  • I made another post with the photos. Should I do anything on the brothers foot with the missing toenail? And does it in look like it will turn into bumble foot?

His eyes seem better after the bath.

If you can pick up some Terramycin eye ointment you can use that on his eye. What a cutie he is.

Putting 2 drakes together in water isn't a good idea it's not going to be pleasant for the one drake that is getting mated. Is there a way to keep them together but not where they are trying to mate each other? maybe one in a large dog crate?
Keep up the soaks and be patient it can take a while to get the scab to come off without damaging healthy skin too.
If possible place his food and water apart so he has to walk to his water and place his water on a tray or broiler pan[I found a used one at Good will] that way the water he spills is down in the pan. I put puppy pee pads on top of the broiler pan.

The brother with the missing back-toe nail should heal fine, you can soak him too to help speed up the healing and put some antibiotic ointment on it.
