Horrible gapeworm symptoms but she don't have gapeworms UPDATE

before the informative link, here is something hilarious: Ward, Henry B. Parasitology, Harold W. Manter Laboratory of the Studies from the Zoological Laboratory: the University of NE. 1895: " And' an
English farmer says he has rarely lost an affected individual since he re_
sorted to tobacco smoke. He places the pullets in a box, which he covers
with a cloth, then puts a little tobacco in a pipe, lights it, puts some more
tobacco on the top, introduces the pipe into the box and blows gently
through the stem, until the birds fall over almost inanimate. He then re-
stores them to the open air, where they soon recover their health·
-(Railliet).'"

i'll bet that works better and is healthier for the birds.

now, the medication link i'm using for gapeworm from Merck:
http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/index.jsp?cfile=htm/bc/202800.htm

go to the bottom of the page and find: Treatment and Control: a little above that is a short section on gapeworm.

I am wondering after reading the post is it possible for her symptoms to be a nervous "tic" Just something she does. You say she is thriving other wise. Her not laying could it be an early molt? You say she is a year old. Have you put down food grade diotomatious (sp?) earth. Helps with mites worms, etc. Has to be food grade anything else is fatal. The food grade DE is awesome for getting rid of pest. I put it in the coop, run, nesting boxes and food. If she had a mite infestation the ivomec would take care of whats on her but what about her surroundings did you do anything to cut down on mites, etc in the yard. You also state that none of the other chickens seem bothered but maybe she is just ultra sensitive? Hmmmm.....
edit: when my chickens molted they stopped laying for about a 3 months seemed even longer...
