I have about 30 eggs in the hatcher (lock down). All looked pretty good going in, but after 1 day the ABSOLUTE WORST SMELL EVER started coming out. 7 chicks have hatched so far (a day early) and seem to be doing really well...better than other hatches that I've had at this point.

Anyway, should I be worried about whatever is causing this smell? I'd open it up and throw the whole thing out and be happy with my seven, but don't really want to waste the remaining eggs that might hatch.

Anybody else ever have this happen, or suggestions?

Yuck! It sounds like one of your eggs have gone bad.. You probably want to do a general smell test and figure out which one it is and remove it.. If you don't remove it, the egg can and will explode sooner or later and give you a pretty good mess to clean up. There is no need to end your hatch!! GOOD LUCK!! Keep us updated.

Check the eggs; sometimes one'll die in the egg, then stink up the bator. Also, check to see if any are 'weeping', or losing their fluids out of the egg. Just remove that one, cover it with a baggie first, otherwise it'll explode on you! Yes, they do do that. YUK. Anyway, examine each egg, and take out the ones that are looking odd. That should get it for you.
