HORRIFIED! What is this?

Today I came home to find this in my hens nesting box! She has not been laying for about two months now and I figured she was just done. Besides having a very poopy rear end right now that I'm getting ready to go out and clean she is acting her normal clucky self. Has anyone seen this before? I am absolutely horrified! Should I be putting her down?

There isn't much you can do for this poor girl but give her extra loving.

Thank you for the prompt reply! I only have one hen right now of laying age so I do know exactly which one it is. I will keep an eye on her and if she starts looking sickly she will be euthanized.

ewwwww! Thanks for posting this; thx to KikisGirls for the info. I've never seen such, but it's good to know how to identify; makes me think of a fibroid tumor. My morbid curiosity prompted an internet search which comes back with horrifying pictures and hysterical bloggers soliciting exorcisms for their hens. At first, rwgrout, I thought it looked a bit like a spaghetti meatball gone wrong. Ok, I'm not looking anymore. cutting myself off computer for the day before I get sucked into looking at any more of these monstrosities. Google addicts, beware...
