Horse:1 Dog:0

I had to put one of those collars on my dog, the ones that zap them to keep him from going across the road. The battery is dead on it but she doesn't know that and I put it on her every time she goes out. After a couple times of getting zapped she stopped trying to go across. Maybe that would be a good idea for them. He may get smart and try and go around your horse.

I am going to put my chickens in the horse pasture. Either I will build a coop in the pen my colt is in with an attached run, or make a couple of tractors and put them in the big pasture. That will take care of the dogs and coyotes but there are still a lot of skunks and such around. Oh well, to keep the horses from crushing it to get at the chicken feed, it will have to be pretty strudy anyway. Galvinzed mesh, rather than chicken wire. That should take care of the varmints.

Good for the Horse!

My 3, Ro Go Bar, Corporal, and Moon Eyes are applauding this!!

Just so you know, my dog, Rose, chases and plays with them, but they can tell when a dog is a threat. BTW, she got stepped on a few weeks back when they were racing around the pasture, so she's more careful.

You need my horse. He only attacks dogs if they bother him *Meaning they get too close, they bark too loud or too much, they nip, any of those things*. That's what I get for buying an alpha.

But he sure goes after them. I've seen him chase a dog for half a mile. Of course, I was on his back at the time...

I feel really sad when animals are owned by families that don't 'get it'

The dog might die or have issues in a few days...a brain bleed, etc...but doesn't sound like folks that would take the dog to a vet if it needed vet attention, how could anyone sit and watch a dog convulse for 10 minutes & not get them to a vet for an aftermath check up?! I would have had that pup at the vet ASAP...well it wouldn't of happened if it were mind, because I'd have an invisible fence up and the dog wouldn't be gett'n off my property! Grrrrrr I really hate hearing stories of irresponsible pet owners!

Hope the dog has learned it's lesson and steers clear, but once they have the taste of blood, that's a tough habit to break!
