Horse club

We finally have some nice weather, so my plan for today was to have my farrier appointment, then go for a nice ride, then go to work. But my farrier was over an hour late, so I missed my ride and barely had time to get home in time to fix my lunch and rush off to work, grrr!
Oh well, it wasn't his fault, there's road construction all over the place and crazy traffic now that more people are back at work. I can put up with the occasional lateness, because he does an amazing job on my horses' hooves and always has good stories, too. I'm sure my horses didn't mind, LOL.

Hey everyone!

I finally got pictures of my trainer's foal, who they named Jet. She is so cute!! :love She's about three weeks old now, although I first saw her when she was just three days old. She's grown a lot!

Jet walked right up to me and let me get some pictures, she was so sweet. :love:love They weren't too great because the lighting was bad and she kept moving.

What is it with farriers?!! :rantAt least your farrier has a good excuse though, if there is such a thing lol. Ours is always very early or very late, no matter what, he can not show up within 1/2 of agreed on time. So it is always a scramble either way no matter what. I yelled at our guy for making me wait 2 hours mid day while "squeezing" another "horse favor" in when we had a set time. I'd get another but they all seem to be the same, so I asked my DH to take over that duty... her does a pretty good job. :he

I feel ya! I notice farriers gossiping! Oh my goodness do they bring the stories from this barn to that barn...Hence why I have my dad trim my horses feet LOL!
Haha, that's so so true! My farrier always has news of the latest drama at one of my old barns, which makes me even happier my horses are living where they are now. Of course, I'm sure he tells them stuff about me too, LOL, even though there's not much to tell that would interest the drama lovers.

I can understand why they are sometimes late, since a lot of people have an appointment for Blackie and then say, "Oh, since you're already here, Brownie threw a shoe, can you nail it back on? It'll only take five minutes." And the shoe turns out to be all twisted out of shape and Brownie's hoof has chunks missing. At least mine texts me if he's held up somewhere.

Wow I wasn’t getting alerts which annoys me considering it’s my thread lol. But Horse riding club goes back tomorrow and I will be taking Hudson. We did canter with no stirrups today which I was really happy with, we also did sitting trot without stirrups and he was amazing. Previously when I have taken away my stirrups he has bolted but he was so chilled out today. And we met some foals! They were two little colts and the sweetest things ever, one chestnut had a perfect diamond star under the forelock and the other had a blaze very similar to Hudson’s. I think I fell in love with them haha

Riding without stirrups is so great for developing an independent seat. Geez, it's exhausting, though!
Meeting foals is definitely benefit - so cute!
It wasn’t actually that hard, Hudson has a lovely smooth trot and his canter is amazing so it was really easy to sit too. My legs only moved to get him to canter and to do a leg yield
