Horse Help

also getting your horse use to walking on a road and crossing painted lines. horses vision is different then ours and my gelding had to be taught that the reflective double lines are not something to be jumped over like a cc fence

Thankfully our town is too small to have painted lines lol. Plus my horses live right next to a major road well kinda lots of grain trucks, tractors and such. Here are some pics of our horses in the parade all dressed up well kinda i did their hair anyways lol.

The black and white horse is our grade gelding harley and the bay horse is ginger our appy mare.

There's a woman here in Michigan who gets inflatable pool toys like alligators, whales and the like, inflates them and hangs them in the barn so the horses are fed, groomed and ridden with big inflatables "hanging out"

Yep that would prolly work for a big parade lol. I dont think i could imagine my barn filled with inflatables though lol.

Here I am riding my ASBx in last years horse holiday parade (not a great pic.. they didn't get any good ones of us)

This last summer I was in a Summer fest parade.. .not a good pic either.. LOL (hubby didn't get the camera in position)
I was in a "uniform" for our local horse association, and the lead horse as my mare had been in 2 parades...
and that was 1 more than any of the other horses.. OR more than the other 2 that were there... LOL

I was in 2 parades with my morgan/qh cross gelding, I used the techniques I described for both horses, and even my flighty nervous ASB does well in parades, she loves them!!

There is no way to anticipate all of the crazy things your horse could see or hear to get spooked by at your parade. Fortunately, I've found that there are usually SO many things that could spook them that they will not get spooked by anything at all while you're there! Sensory overload! LOL (don't forget about candy being thrown at the ground)

Thats a beautiful mare WIChookchick. Whats an asb? Never heard that term before?
