I don't have a problem with animals being raised as food being eaten. I do however have a problem with eating an animal that has been a pet. I think people blaming the close of slaughter houses for the way horses are now is a joke. It is the people that keep breeding these animals and then tossing them, - that is the problem. I don't raise an animal that I can not keep myself, I may find a good home for it, but my main point was to raise it for myself. If i can't afford it , I shouldn't keep raising more. If people took more responsibility of what they raised and not keep doing it just to make a quick buck, horses would not be in the state they are now. Perhaps you should have to register your horses with the state each year... maybe something like that would prevent over breeding of them.
