~*Horse Owners Thread*~

Ok ... here's some pics of my Dovie girl (for Kansaseq)

Dove is a grulla Friesian cross (with Appaloosa and QH).

This is the picture that convinced me to drive 10 hours and buy this girl.

And this is her the day I brought her home.

We were both a little bedraggled from a 12 hour ride.

) but I would like to tell everyone how beautiful their horses are! Just went through and looked at all the pics.

Alanna,
Dove is breathtaking!! I can see why you drove so far to get her, and seems like it was well worth it. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos of your girl

Does not even look the same color from first pics you seen......were you surprised when you got there? Still very pretty horse and worth the drive.

Wow, Dove is an absolute stunner! Lucky you!

I don't technically own a horse myself, but my mom has a 16.2 hand gray thoroughbred named River Nights (Rivie). She's been training him for eventing and dressage for a few years now.

I used to ride quite a bit, but eventually fell out of it. I like horses a lot and think they're beautiful animals, but I'm just not so into the riding aspect, nor the labor and upkeep of such large animals (meaning I wouldn't own a horse myself, but I do very much enjoy seeing them, petting them, grooming them, etc.). I do miss my old trail horse Slip, though. He wasn't our horse but we were boarding him as a semi-rescue at our previous property because his owner died, but the parents of the owner wanted someone to care for the two horses so they could keep their daughter's memory. He was a fat older quarter horse who bucked off most people other than me. What I loved about him was that I could just jump on him and ride him all over the place bareback, and he was always well-behaved for me. He got older and a little lame, so he went into semi-retirement at a happy home with children to spoil him.

The other horse we boarded was Salty, and he was an absolute joy. He was mellow and a total sweetheart, and all the kids in the neighborhood would come and ride him around. He was just a wonderful guy. We rode him until he was...gosh, thirty-two, I think? He never went lame and did very well. He got colic really badly when he was thirty-three and was euthanized. Saying goodbye to him was heartbreaking... I still keep a photo of him on my magnetic whiteboard in my room.

Here are my two! Great thread, by the way! It's always fun to see everyone else's horses!

This is my brown dun Norwegian Fjord, COF Siggy, aka Siggy. He is 8 years old and my beginner lesson/husband horse. He's SUCH a neat little horse with a great attitude. I love having him, so much!

...and because you can't have just one Fjord, this is our NEW Fjord, Ole. He is a grey dun gelding (just got gelded two weeks ago) and is 9 years old. He is broke to ride and drive - and I can't WAIT to get started on working him!
