I would look into the dressage aspect, or something similiar. I am in mind of the Show Hack classes in the arab ring but of course thats out lol. Maybe they have something similiar in the fresian shows? Show hack is a low level dressage with (at least in the arab ring) lots of upright high knee action which if she has an upright shoulder would be more along with what her stride would be.
Again I am basing this off of arab stuff.
But I would seriously consider dressage
Both Friesians and draftX are generally very good-minded userfriendly horses that you can do almost anything with to at least a recreational level, and sometimes certain things beyond that, so you can probably have a lot of fun with her no matter what you decide to do
The very long neck (very Friesian) will make it important to get a good trainer and concentrate on really getting her to use her haunches and topline *properly* (not just droop down onto forehand, or stick neck high in the air without engaging topline or coming up through withers). This is quite doable, just something that you want to make a priority with this construction of horse.
I know ya don't ride color, but I loooooove her color
(e.t.a. - do you have any interest in [and budget for] driving? Either pleasure-driving classes or like CDE type things? Wouldn't she look *fancy*!
I was a little amazed of "geebs" critique on the other post: Horse B: This horse appears to be younger than horse A which may or may not be a plus. This is a saddle type horse as to the opposed Hunter. This animal appears bright and well filled in on the corners. It does not appear to have had much work lately The muscling on the neck shows that it holds its head up a lot This could be due to stalling. The shoulder angle and the angle of hip would allow for very quick stops and starts. The horse has been nostrils and a large heartgirth that tells me there is some hotblood in it. That means that this horse is likely more sensitive than horse A. This can be a good thing if you have experience and like a horse with lots of go. For gaming and gymkana this is my choice.. It has a very short back so I would think there is some Arabian in it and that it would not be a great prospect for jumping due to the one less vertebrae in its spine. It is a sounder looking prospect from here. I would suspect that if this horse was well schooled it could be delightful. Its gaits will not be as comfortable as horse A but the soundness and fun may be worth the trade-off. I would make sure that I get a farrier that is careful about taking the bars down into their proper position as this horses feet appear to have a pancake type appearance and the horses appear to be due for some hoof attention. Oh and one more thing the topline on this horse when compared with the underline leads me to believe that this horse if it had a mind to could move quite a bit of ground for a small animal. A fairly good chance at a decent speed index (of course all of this from a picture) Would like to see some video of the animals. Thanks for the chance to give feedback.
Is this for real or are you just making things up?
I would like you to critique mine too!
I'm not sure what I will end up doing with her, I have some time to figure things out I guess. I just trail ride, but then I have friends always inviting me to do clinics in dressage and eventing. I don't have a horse capable of doing that, but maybe I do now, huh?
(in a few years that is)
My daughter is taking lessons and is interested in dressage, but she is awhile away from riding a green horse.
