Horse people - need some advice

We have a similar set up in our barn for our 3 geldings. Our 33x36 barn is three stalls 24' long and around 11 feet wide. The remainder is an open run-in, our poor horses' only source of shade in the Texas heat.

I like long, narrow stalls. Actually I think they are easier to clean, provided it's done daily, than a typical square 10x10 or 12x12. The horses seem to designate the back half as a big potty pan for the most part. That keeps the horse out of the poop and they don't grind it up so bad so it's easier to lift out provided you keep up with it every day.

We can then pen the horses in their individual stalls to eat without being tied or without being competitive over grain.

Hope that helps.
