horse stepped on hen(broken leg)

Hi I have a year old buff orpington that my horse stepped on yesterday. She will not put weight on one of her legs and some skin has been ripped off. What should I do? Should I spliten it? I have put betadine on the cuts and moved her to a large cage. She eats and drinks but can no move her leg. When I pick her up it dose NOT just hang there she keeps it up close to her body. I LOVE this hen and if she can heal that is what I want. Thank you

Make a splint for her leg, tongue depressors and Vetrap tape. It will take some time to heal and find a comfy place for her to be like a dog crate. If it is so hot outside, bring her in and keep her in a quiet place like the laundry room or unused bathroom.

I think you are doing the right thing!

Gee wiz, someone had a duck stepped on by a horse last week. Keep us posted how she's doing.
