The majority of the pictures show dark hooves/dark legs. It is only the most recent photos on the website that show what appear to be white hooves and white "markings" on the legs - markings that would show as pink skin under the hair, not black skin. If Peepers sees the horse in person, and it has black hooves, then all should be fine, just an optical illusion in the photos. But it does make me wonder....

Her hooves look slightly lighter now than they did at birth, but they pretty much look the same color in all the pictures. Not white. They're dark. And the white on her legs isn't markings, it's just from the grey. Correct?

Gray horse can be born bay, with white leg marking with pink skin and white hooves. Those leg markings stay white from birth onward, through all color phases. Hooves never change color. I have owned horses that matured this way.

Gray horse can also be born bay, without white leg markings, and BLACK skin and hooves, but their legs can become white as they gray out. Their hooves never change color. I have also owned horses that matured this way.

What is suspicious to me in the photos is that some of the most recent pictures, not just what has been posted here on BYC, appear to make the mare look like she has white hooves and distinct leg markings. It may just be the photos, but if I were buying her, I would sure want to know. If the foal photos of her are accurate, then she CANNOT have white hooves.

Are you sure its not possible? Maybe it's some rare new thing? Probably not though. But from the pics on FB of her and other horses, it seems they are very involved and love the horses so they would know if it was the same horse or not, especially watching it grow up from a foal? But I would definitely check and be sure

Yes, what I'm saying is it looks like she was born bay, no leg markings, and dark hooves. I looked at their page too and it just looks like her legs have greyed out faster than the rest of her, and her hooves still look dark. Maybe a little sun faded or have sand stuck to them.

Yeah, she had just rolled in the last pic

And in reference to the discussion about her color, I have heard that a lot of foals that are born "bay" grow out to be white. And almost all of his gray horses were born dark like that. The two bays all had white legs as foals. Yo can look up Cleveland bays to compare their foals.
I've also noticed that almost every palomino I've seen has a black foal that lightens with age. A guy up the street from us breeds horses, and he has/had this gorgeous pal made. She always had black babies.

Btw thanks for posting this, I've always liked Arabians but when I look at general pictures I get frustrated because I'm like "ew that one is so dainty" and then I'm like "wow that one is way stockier and prettyyy" AND I NEVER KNEW THERE WERE DIFFERENT STRAINS.
You've started something terrible. I can now daydream about them and totally bypass the thought of dainty ones

yes, from what I've read, the Russians select more for function than looks, so if a horse isn't an "easy keeper" I guess, they don't breed it.
And for some reason, EVERYONE wants a PURE EGYPTIAN Arab. It's annoying... Egyptians are nasty :/

Well, my sister won and it looks like we will be getting a horse. I am in love with the Morgan horse and want to know the pros and cons of them.
