Oh, well that makes sense then! I don't have a job for the horses I already have so that's why I don't need very many. Although I'd like to have cows someday so maybe I'd have a job for a couple then. What kind of bloodlines do you want for you brood mares?
I love June's bloodlines. I think mr Gunsmoke is my favorite (he's her great grandpa). I saw a little stud colt with awesome bloodlines today that I would looove to buy, but what use would I have for him?

Cows would be fun to just mess around with, pretend to cut etc. To bad ours are all range..

They'd probably just have decent lines most likely cutting and reining. Not sure though. I like Sneaks but she doesn't have very good bloodlines at all..

Yeah, I could probably eventually use June to round em up when they need their shots or hauled off to the sale barn, and maybe I could learn how to rope and I could rope some calves off her. But that'll take lots of practice. Which is fine considering I don't have any cows yet. My grandpas got a few right now, and June seems to be a little cowy. I think she'd make a decent cowhorse. My goal is to get better at riding, be able to ride through all the gaits, including galloping, maybe get an older horse that knows what it's doing to practice on, learn how to make a horse side pass, etc. I'd like to get one that neck reins considering I've never rode one that does, and then maybe in a year or so when I've improved and am more confident and have trained June some more, I could get some reining lessons and then if I like it I could take June to a reining trainer. Long term though I wouldn't use June for reining forever, because for one, she'll probably be almost five before I can show her, and it's my understanding that most people are already showing reining horses at 2, and also she's not that big so she wouldn't hold up forever. If all that plan goes well, and I can win some beginner stuff with June or place decent, then I'd like to breed her to that nice reining horse I found a while back and raise me a good reining foal and get it professionally trained from the start. But that's a long term goal. More of a dream actually, it may not come true. Heck, I might take reining lessons one day and not even like it, who knows. But when I sit around and dream about horses that's what I plan on. So we'll see how it goes I guess.

And that's okay, you can't ride papers. But sometimes they sure are nice.

Yes, gypsy vanner for sure, sooo beautiful!!

Okay, so let me tell you all about my evening ~

I went out to work with June after talking to my horse loving cousin about how nervous I get and she told me not to be nervous because "if she was gonna be a turd, you would know by now." And I was thinking about that, and June's always been an angel for me, why should it be any different in the pasture?
So, I caught her (didn't really catch her, she came to me) and tacked her up, and she stood still and didn't try to nip me this time which was nice, then I round penned her and she was very responsive to me and listened to everything I wanted her to do, so then I hopped on her in the round pen and flexed her and she flexed super nice, and I rode for a few minutes and she was being very good, and I'd also have to give her an A+ for her progress on neck reining in the round pen, then I went and opened the gate (from in the saddle, walked her up beside it and unlatched it and then backed up and had her push it open with her nose, she likes doing that) and then we rode down through the arena and past the little metal shed and all the cows and llama which she did without batting an eye, she stumbled once but regained her footing and didn't over react or anything, then we rode out into the big pasture (and this is the first time I've rode a horse around that pasture, I've ridden a couple horses down the fence row but never all around) and she was amazing, she went where I pointed her for the most part, there were a couple times I had to pull her head a little extra but she did good, and Penelope followed us around, there were a couple times she tried to stop and stand with Penelope while Penelope ate but I got her going again and then Penelope kept following. She did try to trot once but I slowed her down with no problem. Then I rode her back up to the barn, and rode her over to the fence where my grandpa was, we had a tiny struggle with that becuase she wanted to stand under her favorite tree with Penelope but after a couple minutes I got her to my grandpa, and then he got on her and just rode her in a small circle and walked her over a log, which was no big deal for her. Then I took her back up to the barn and untacked her, and she stood for me without having to tie her, then I brushed her and gave her a treat (I know you're not suppose to give them a treat after riding but I just couldn't help it) and theeen I took her into the round pen again and did some Liberty work, she walked her circles around me in both directions almost perfectly, and then I backed her across the entire round pen at liberty and I barely had to put any pressure on her, she was very in tune with what I wanted. Then she just followed me as I walked around the round pen and I took a super cute video of her, except I forget to click the record button so I didn't actually take one lol. And then I stood in the middle and she walked up to me and just put her head down and stood there very, very respectfully and we had the most intense bonding moment. We were both covered in sweat and my grandparents yelled out to me to come in for super, but it really pained me to put everything up and leave her when we were having such a strong bonding time. Today was by far the BEST day I've ever had with her, she was absolutely amazing. And my confidence is almost completely restored.
I'll upload some pictures from today later.

Sounds like an awesome evening!

I always give my horses treats after I work with them, only if they have behaved though. It has really helped Sneaks get over being moody towards coming home.

Tomorrow I have to trail 80 pairs by myself into a new pasture. Not to excited about this, since I won't take Bert(23 year old mare). Cause its half a mile to get to the cows, and she's done her time on my grandpa and put ranch.
I will make sure to wear my spurs since Sneaks can get worked up around cows sometimes..

Oh so maybe it's no harm done then. I can never decide when the appropriate time for treats is.
And good luck! Sounds challenging but fun. Hopefully sneaks is well behaved
