Horse Talk

Say what?? I didn't know they paid people at all, I thought they volunteered! I could never even try to do that though because I don't live close enough to any BLM place :barnie
I kind of wish I would have stuck with my plan of buying sale authority mustangs, training them, and then selling them. It would have been a win-win. 3 strike horses would get out of holding pens, and I might even make a little money, you know, as long as none of them got sick, hurt themselves, and they were easy keepers and I didn't get attached :lau
But I think I'd really like colt starting competitions, they'd be really fun, and don't require a big commitment (like months of working with one horse) and I wouldn't be allowed to get attached. If only I knew where to start
The closest one to me I think is Canon city... I'd move to either Utah or California if I actually ended up doing it though. Or !maybe Montana. Work with kigers... That'd be awesome. :wee

Yeah,I know what you mean. I know I sound crazy, but I don't get attached to just any horse. Me and Zaily were like two peas in a pod, but I didn't really know much about horses then, so we sold her to some awesome peeps who do. And me and Smoke are inseparable now. :th Took the little brat long enough. Ginger I am keeping til the day she dies, Lord willing. I love that old nag.
Every other horse I've had has only been, "a great horse." They were really awesome, but I just never clicked with them. (Thats me and Armira right now.... She doesn't like me cuz I make her listen, and I don't like her half as much as Smoke...)

We lease a place down the street from my parents house. The entire area used to be farmland, then they built the subdivision (my mom bought her house before it was built) and re-zoned, but there was a guy that had horses and wouldn't let them re-zone him so that patch of land was grandfathered in as agricultural even though it's surrounded on 3 sides by residential, some of it is pretty high class residential too (not the part I grew up in). But the driveway to the place is almost impossible to see until you have turned onto it, and then the horses are down a bank with a tree line between them and the road, so you can't see the horses, barn, or fields from the road.
So yeah, I'm the weirdo that has horses in a neighborhood AND boards... lol

Oh that is so cool! :lau

Hey! We're the same! lol I love Montana and Kigers, and I can't get attached to just any horse either. I even had one that was my soul mate horse, but I didn't know enough about horses then and I sold him (lots of regret), and now me and June are inseparable. I'm pretty attached to Jasmine too, even though she scares the daylights out of me sometimes lol

They are. I've never seen a horse that wasn't pretty - okay, not in person. Some of those mustangs they haul in from Canyon city are pretty scraggly lookin. :

Aww, that sucks. :/ Do you board then? Or are you the "weirdo" who has horses in your neighborhood?

LOL same

And I don't have any horses atm. :( i wish. :(

And i stopped riding too.

Wow that is awesome

BB2K and I often take the minis for walks in the neighborhood; it's a great way to expose them to all kinds of things that we don't have at home and work on the ol' barn sour/herd sour issue. Working up to the Christmas parades, we were taking them out at night, with lights on. At one point during the parade down at Carolina Beach, I heard a voice in the crowd say, "Look! It's Blondie!" When I located the voice, it turned out to be a couple of our neighbors that had met us out walking a few nights before.

Blondie, before the parade in Carolina Beach (I know, rotten picture)

she's beautiful and adorable

i just love like all horses ever lol

Ah. Two horse trailers suck for moving full size horses, but it'd be awesome for minis.

Armira had such a hard time loading into our trailer cuz it didn't have a ramp.
:th
I was like, "seriously, she is spoiled. :th

My horses have never had a trailer with a ramp. I've even had to jump them about 3 feet up into the trailer because of how it was parked before, they don't care, they just hop right in.

Same.
Whoaaa. :th I bet Zaily would've don't that in a heartbeat, but I doubt I've had a horse who would jump 3ft to get in!
