Horse Talk

So, life is hitting me pretty hard right now, I bought my own place and I totaled my car last week, so basically I'm broke right now. Unfortunately that means I need to sell Jasmine. Jasmine is my baby and she's also worth a little more than any horses I've sold in the past, so I'm trying to be super selective about where she ends up. I don't just wanna post her on Craigslist and hope for the best. Do you guys have any ideas on how I could advertise her?

Oh Abigail... I'm so sorry man. :( :hugs
I'm not familiar with any other sale sites, but a couple things I've picked up over the years of using CL:
The higher the price, the more likely the prospective buyer is really able to take care of her.
Put a little more pressure on "to a good home." Not too much, cuz then you won't get any offers, but emphasize it.
If you don't like the person, just tell them no. If they show up with a trailer and all they do is look once, say no. The guy we sold Rusty to did that...... Ugh.

Last thing - if you can get a little more experience under her cinch, that's big. Trail riding, packing, overnight camping, or even just desensetizing with a rolled up feedbag. Good for her and makes her more desirable.

I'm SO sorry you have to sell her. :( I hope you can find a way to keep her, but if you can't I hope she goes to an awesome home.

I just thought of something.... maybe you could lease her out or find a foster home for her? If you're uncomfortable with an off farm lease you could do on farm only. That way, you could keep her and not have to sell her and you could maybe afford it and/or she'd get used. And if you charge for the lease, it could go to her care. Or maybe there is a rescue or a group who could foster her for you. Surely there must be other options. Although she'd young and not broke or even able to be yet, right? So maybe leasing wouldn't work but maybe there is a foster home. Or maybe even someone who would lease but just work her on the ground or hang out with her

I would NOT advertise on Craigslist. It will be a complete waste of your time. I had the best luck with Dreamhorse, so therefore, I recommend that site. Good luck to you and I'm so very sorry you are going through this.
