As in, he doesn't shed out his summer coat? He stays furry/fluffy and doesn't get slick in the summer? If so, that is one of the main symptoms of Cushings disease, which is very common in Arabs. You might want to talk to your vet and do some research on it. If he DOES have Cushings, there are lots of ways to handle it, from micro-managing every aspect of his life, to being a bit more laid back. My 29-yr old Arab gelding has Cushings, and I manage it with Prascend tablets, Triple Crown feeds, and limited grazing. He first started showing symptoms in 2008, and is still going strong.

If the link below works, it is a picture of him in Jan 2011. While he *should* have a winter coat in Jan, the problem was that the hair he had on him had been there since LAST winter. What little he shed was replaced with more 4" long yak hair. We were still playing with his Pergolide dosage at that point.... (He was on compounded Pergolide until March 2012, when I switched him to Prascend, which is a MUCH better product!)
