Pumpkin came home yesterday! She took a little while to get settled but she’s been doing great!

You have a horse?!

Yep! Two actually. Pumpkin is the only one I have at home right now, the other one is a is a brood mare right now, she used to race but has been a brood mare for a few years now. Once her baby from this spring is weened which should be around September-October then she will come here.

Thanks! She was getting trained. She was a little wild and wasn’t saddle broke so everyone around here recommended to send her to a guy in Vermont that does liberty training. She is much better now!

Here’s her life story lol.
She is 3 years old, she is a thoroughbred, even though she has more of a quarter horse build. Everyone that looks at her thinks she is a QH. She was born on a racehorse breeding farm and was supposed to race but she was born with a crooked leg. It was really strange, almost Z shaped as she grew she grew out of it, you can’t even tell now. She still had bad confirmation so she couldn’t race.
Anyway, when she was a baby with her crooked leg the farm next to the horse farm I work at gave her to us (farm I work at) for a companion horse for a foal that had lost her mother. After that she stayed at the farm that I work at until a early last year they sent her to a training place but it didn’t go well there, they never had enough time to train her so they brought her back to the farm where I work. Then around last December they told us (me and my sister) that they would give her to us so in May we sent her to a trainer in Vermont and she has been there until now. The trainer in VT was amazing, she now lays down on command, is rideable, follows you without any lead rope/halter, and other things like that. She is really a great horse

Prices have definitely gone back up. Friesian foals were holding steady at about $8-12k, now they've jumped to $15-25k!!!

Really? Around here you can get a purebred Friesian foal for $5-6k.

I’m sure there’s probably other threads on this but I absolutely love horses so I would love to see yours!

As a kid, I read every horse book possible, watched every horse movie, etc. and was generally completely obsessed lol I’m sure I’m not the only one

I also used to ride off and on as well but the last time I rode was probably almost 10 years ago. I miss it for sure but can’t start again atm. Maybe eventually.

ANYWAY…

We can talk about anything horse related here and hopefully some pictures and yeah.

@Overo Mare I know I’ve seen yours already but…

@EmmaRainboe and @TheOddOneOut you guys have pictures of the ones you ride, right?
