What horse are you riding? You know how much the saddle weighs?
I haven’t started yet. Just wondering for when I do. And I read that western saddles usually weigh around 50 lbs and English 20 lbs??? But idk how true that is if at all.

Any western saddle I've ever lifted has been a lot less than fifty pounds. English saddles are lighter than western, but I'm not sure of the exact weight.

Went to the horse rescue last week, to see the orphan foals. The foal in my profile picture, Elvis, got an adopted mom! This is his new mom, Serenity. She will walk up to you backwards so you can scratch her butt. So rude.

This is a picture I was able to churn up of my first horse, Sultan. He was a black grade saddlehorse gelding who had so much sense and kindness. He loved to chase cows. I hope he finally got to be a cowhorse! View attachment 3181529
So pretty and cute!!

Thank you. He was a very good horse, but pretty long ago, sad to say.

1. To taking lessons where the teacher yells a lot and/or hits horses. I learned sOOOO much more when I was able to ride by myself on a horse who was willing to teach me. Once in a while, having somebody give me feedback on my position and such, but otherwise, the horse taught me so much better than a human.

2. To how much can horses carry. Big draft horses or draft crosses really can carry big loads, and mules out of those type horses can carry even more. The draft horses come from the big warhorses that knights in shining armor rode centuries ago -- and just imagine the load those horses carried!

Thanks!! I didn’t think about the knights and idk why since I watch a lot of those type of shows 🤣🙈 I’m sure the armor must of weighed a ton! Plus the big men riding them
