I've always used rope halters. I don't think either are very safe because they don't break easy. I need to get some breakaway halters especially for trailering.

I should get them now while they're on sale...
honestly in my experience, I wouldn't bother with break away halters. Horses learn that they can throw a fit and get away. you also shouldn't really be tying your horse up in a trailer. a majority of horse deaths happen because of that its just not safe. If you are tying in the trailer rather use haylage twine so It will break If a freak out happens in the trailer.

I’m thinking about riding “my horse” (If I get one) bitless.
Would a bridle like this be fine?

It’s not even that expensive so why not try it out?

What’s motivating you to go bit less? Also I would start with the halter because some horses don’t respond very well to bit less.

I’ve ridden bitless and it was nice. I felt a lot better knowing I wouldn’t accidentally yank at the horses mouth if something happened. So why not?

👍
Should it be a rope halter or a nylon halter?
Ideally a rope halter but, I just use what ever I can find, nylon works to. :) I was just curious about you wanting to go bit less, Its interesting seeing different peoples point of view

You just need to see more English riders! Go on YouTube and look at Elisa Wallace channel. She's a top-level Eventer rider (English) who's competed at the most prestigious evens in the USA and England.
She adopts wild Mustangs and trains them to be Eventers, also adopts young Thoroughbreds right off the racetrack and trains them as well. She's won various Mustang training challenges, you would love the videos of her jumping her adopted Mustangs bareback without bridles or saddles.
She uses rope halters with all of her horses, even the super-trained top-level ones.
Whoa that’s amazing! And I clearly missed some posts lol whoops
