i don't think so, he's been a lesson horses for years and the instructor/trainr said he's just like that sometimes, especially when you first start cantering in the lesson
Some experienced lesson horses are better teachers than even the human trainers.
They totally know what you want them to do, and are perfectly capable of doing it, but they wait for you to be balanced and give a completely correct aid before they will do it. Experienced lesson horses are worth their weight in gold.

I'm easing into it slowly, and he's never going to be 100%, but he'll probably eventually be cleared for mid level riding, which is all I wanted. He's got the loveliest personality, sweet, loyal, great with kids, (a bit of a coward with other horses though) he's everything I wanted. And beautiful to boot!
So awesome that he'll most likely be OK! He's gorgeous!

Yes if you don’t ask the right way they are not going to do it! Although some will.

I’m curious, what is the average price range for a good kids pony in your area? Not a fancy show pony just a beginner pony that’s not on deaths door. I was shocked by how much they are going for in my area. I don’t mind paying for a good horse, but goodness have ponies gone up in $$$.

Up in my little corner, they seem to range from 4,000 up to 6,500 or so. I only looked at a few ads though, and all the ponies were in their late teens. And honestly, if I picked one, I'd go for the least expensive one, because he looked super sweet.

Those prices aren’t too bad or at least better than around here early this spring. When I first started pony shopping this year I was told to set my budget at $10,000-$20,000 for a beginner pony I was like whaaa that’s insane?😭 If I was looking for my kids a little rodeo or eventing pony sure, but they are just beginners on the lead line right now.

That is insane! I doubt anyone would ask that much for a kids pony. The weirdest thing in my area I saw was a Zebra stallion being sold for $40,000 😭

I saw some camels, a wallaby, capybaras and ostriches for sale at a livestock auction I went to. I thought I was at the wrong place at first😅
