I just got a call that my cousins stud she just had gelded died from post surgery complications😭 Apparently the vet never updated his tetanus shot beforehand. It’s even scarier because when my boys arrived I immediately had the vet out to get their shots so they had everything in their system well before I trailered them in to be gelded. They ended up having problems getting Drago’s anesthesia needle inserted into his jugular vein correctly and his jugular vein abscessed post surgery. It was an abscess the size of a baseball on his neck that thankfully went down with antibiotics. They said his saving grace was that I had his shots updated prior to the surgery and they were in his system beforehand otherwise he would have not made it either. It’s absolutely insane and makes such a simple surgery seem terrifying now. I may have to stick to mares in my future😭

Oh no! I’m so sorry! It’s definitely scary just hearing about it makes me nervous.

I haven't been on here in so long! How has everyone's horses been?

Summer camp is finally almost over for Ginger and I, Gin has been such a trooper with the kids lol. She gets grouchy about being used by the campers, but is so great with the kids anyways. After camp is over in a week, I hope to practice more on myself, and to finally do a virtual dressage show with Ginger. :) That, and some more trail riding! We've done a lot of that at our new place -- and learned that galloping a little on the straight flat stretches is way too much fun 😅

Hope everyone else's summer has been good so far!
