Ugh your horse is less expensive than my Guinea pigs then! Lucky
(Hay, somewhere between 3 and 5 pounds a month, costing me somewhere in the $40 range if I’m lucky, $50+ if not)(every month…)
And then veggies ($5 a week or so if I can find good prices, 10+ if not)
Pellets and vitamin c cookies aren’t too expensive and take a while to go through, thamk goodness
And the vet is 95 for the base appointment, and my two have been in and out of the vet at least a dozen times by now. Knish’s spay last week was only about 600 total, including meds and everything! That was a blessing. Latke needs to go back now that they’ve got copies of her X-rays (those were pretty expensive too 😭) and in conclusion: why did I pick the mini-horse exotics (same digestive system and many similar mannerisms)
Goodness you should have just gotten a horse! 🤣 🤣 🤣 I used to have a Guinea pig he was so sweet!

I’ve only ridden bareback at the walk and trot, and all on pretty chunky horses/ponies! I’ve never cantered, I was too scared the first opportunity and had fallen off 10 minutes before the second, and the faster trot trying to pick up the stubborn pony’s canter hurt my tush. One day! I’ve cantered without stirrups a few times and done well at that, but I know I’m gone if they make any sharp turns
I sometimes canter without stirrups much more comfortable than bareback! My coach also has me post the trot without stirrups to get my legs stronger. Maybe one day I can ride a chunky pony bareback!

Finding a reputable HORSE hay provider is a must in the South. Lots of cattle hay around... And yes, if they can mow it and make a round bale, they'll sell it... Even if it's chock full of scrub and weeds.

One year my normal provider ran out of hay because of drought. They referred me to a neighboring provider a few miles down the road from them. He had a full barn of green bales that looked awesome. We bought 150 bales. Got them home and my horses wouldn't touch them! After inspecting them much closer, I think the guy actually sprayed green dye on them to make them look "fresh." 😡 Not really sure.... Our goats would eat it but I ended up having to go 4 hours away to find hay that my horses would actually eat.

Just saying people pull all kinds of shenanigans out here...
Oh wow.... thats wrong.
There is people that pull shenanigans around here. But you can quickly know those people to.

Cici goes back tomorrow i rode her bareback in the field and just enjoyed being with her. But my eyes have definitely been more watery than normal! She is such a good horse I wish she knew how much I love her.
