YepShe had shoes right???
Oh that makes more sense then. I was going to say that much just for a trim was highway robberyTrim and shoes so maybe it’s not actually more? Do your horses go barefoot?
Ginger looks like she’s doing good! Glad you could join in!I love reading all the great conversations on here, but I'm so busy at the barn now that I never have time to jump in.
I believe one of the cheaper farriers we've been using does a $45 trim too, but there are definitely some more expensive guys around. Right now I want to put Ginger in wedge shoes to see if those work better for her. The farrier tried these "backward" bar shoes (regular shoes turned backward, so the toe is open) but I have not liked it all that much. Now that Gin is on turf and going trail riding at our new place, her toes get so torn up and she's gone as sound as she ever did in full bar shoes. Both my trainer and I agree that she may not even need bar shoes, but maybe a wedge. I don't know if anyone else has thoughts/experiences? Ginger has navicular disease and high and low ring bone, so she needs her heel lifted/supported to keep the weight off it so she stays sound.
Anyhow, hopefully everyone's horses are doing well! I got to do a little virtual dressage show with Ginger this month, I was a bit disappointed with our test lol (I knew she could do better! She just wasn't warmed up enough) but it was fun. We get results on the 31st.

Based on my very little knowledge lol I would say four or five. But if it was my own horse I wouldn’t want to risk anything so I might even wait until 6 or until my horse seemed to be ready. I still need to do way more research about this though! What do you think?Good morning everyoneHot topic question in the horse world. At what age do you think a horse should be started in the saddle?
I say starting them getting used to the saddle and tack around 3 or 4 but I wouldn't get on or put weight on them(besides the saddle) till 5Good morning everyoneHot topic question in the horse world. At what age do you think a horse should be started in the saddle?
