Horses!!!!!!!!

I have been riding for over half my life, so I have experience. I want to go treeless because (a, it will change to the shape of my horse as I condition him, and (b, if I sell him and get another Arab for longer distance rides, I can hopefully use the same saddle. He is hard to fit a saddle to, as his back is wide and flat, but he has high withers.

You need to make sure you have good balance with a treeless, and don't brace with your stirrups. Treeless saddles can easily slide side-to-side if you put uneven pressure on the stirrups.

They can accommodate a wide variety of back shapes and sizes, but they aren't perfect for every horse. You will need a GOOD pad in addition to the treeless saddle. Skito is a good bet - they are expensive, though (~$200).

If possible, I would recommend you try a treeless before you buy one. Action Rider Tack has a demo program, and has LOTS of treeless saddles. Valley Vet also has a trial program, but I don't know if any of their treeless saddles qualify.

I'd also wait until you get your mentor, and speak to them about switching. There are lots of things to consider regarding saddle fit (both treed and treeless) and hopefully they can guide you in the right direction.

Good luck!!!!!

thank you! Yeah, I already checked out action rider tack, that's were I'm gonna get it. And barefoot sells an endurance pad for treeless saddles, it's $170. And I don't brace with the stirrups, half the time I ride without them, lol XD. Makes for an interesting gallop with my best friend, lol.

Hi! We have 3 spotted drafts. The stallion, Sam, is a tobiano and the mares are sorrel and white (Calypso and Freyah). The chickens a guineas appreciate the bugs in piles the horses leave behind! I guess the chickens, especially, become good fertilizer spreaders!
