Unfortuant
palpating not an option I wish... Cuz they are small none of vets here will do it... It's either 150 dollar blood test or an iffy 40 on a wee foal... I can't tell about movement? Maybe on my one mare? It's hard to say? I know with my big ones I never felt or saw a thing until like day or two before foaling when they were turning? Udders maybe starting on the one? I can't tell diff between starting to fill or fat? Stud was very small and he had one of the tiniest colts I have ever seen born this year? Here is a pic of the maybe udders?

there is possibility of fescue? I have been watching for it because if foaling time frame we have had bremuda in pasture haven't seen fescue... We moved recently so trying to situate for that has been hard and I can't stall them all day... We are putting up a dry lot fence now...

Hi horse friends :frow

I have an ex race horse who is 18 and I have had him for the past 11 years. In May this year he had tendon injury which was treated with box rest and bute. The box rest was a nightmare :he. Thankfully made a quick recovery about 6 weeks so not too bad as I thought this would be the end of his ridden life and would become a field ornament!!!! Vet also diagnosed arthritis which was not unexpected due to his age and the racing career he had ( he was broken at 2 ) finished when 7. I have him on the joint supplements etc. also I am doing magnet therapy boots everyday the bio flow ones and was hoping any of you may have tried this, your thoughts on them and if you feel they have worked? Many thanks for any comment or tips on them.

Thera Plates are awesome!!!! They help heal injuries and increase blood flow. I suggest you visit their website www.theraplate.com

Quote: That doesn't look like a mare anywhere near foaling to me. Minis tend to give birth earlier than the big horses, with 320 days being accepted by most mini breeders as the "due date." If your mares were with the stallion until Oct. 14, that's what, 346 days ago? Minis can go that long, but they are so big, they almost drag the ground . . . . I'm tending to think your girls are just "fluffy."

Ya prob ;) I just know the gal with the stud had a teeny colt mare went like well over two months over... They prob are just fluffy tho my grey mare has been acting very funny and sleepy latly tho that's not the udder pic she made me think possible? I dunno? I give up... I'm just pasturing them separate from my full size and whatever will be will be :)

Fescue can cause a mare to go well past her due date, and to fail to produce milk, but foals that are waayy overdue are usually huge, not tiny.
He is the smallest mini foal u had ever seen she had two others that were normal size... I didn't know that about the fescue causing them to go over just the milk and placentitis... I haven't seen any but I'm not a grass expert? We're prob fixing to have some come out tho our weather just broke and having cool spell suppose to warm up again tho
