Hot on new babies

I hatched 12 Silkies & Bantam Cochins today. And it was 108 in the shade here today, and also in our garage where I have put the brand new babies in one of my brooders. They are supposed to have 95 degree temp. when hatched, and it is 105 or a little over. I hope they don't croak on me before they even dry off good! Boy, I am SO, SO ready for it to cool down a bit. I put some of those flat ice packs in my smaller coops, and the chickens are sitting on them. So far I haven't lost anyone.

The heat is pretty bad here too. I got babies last week (by mail

) and haven'thad to use the heat lamp much at all! A little at night and thats it.

Tomorrow we're in for cooler temps - I think the high is around 85 tomorrow -

We might actually get some work done around here!!

(then the bad news, more heat for the weekend un )

I hope your babies do ok!!! Ours are inside we don't have AC, so they're fine, we're living in a brooder

Congrats on your new babies!!!

We are having the heat wave here also. Been in the 100's for the past 9 out of 10 days.

I'm so ready for it to cool down!
