hot water heater therm help

the higher the voltage you use the less amps a circit will draw the less amps you draw the smaller /lighter the contacts can be 110 would need to be heavier if wattage is constant. unless it is digatal which most WH are not the voltage only goes through the t-stat it does not power it. it would with 12 volts as well . when working with electricity OHM's law comes in handy
 
You are right. I did not think it through. I just had the correct one. Either way, the diaphram opens and closes the circuit. Anyway, the OP was getting the correct one from Home Depot.
 
that looks a lil complicated.....would it work if i mounted it to a can of water or do i hv to do all that taking apart and stuff....scared i'm gonna ruin it....
