i hope i havent picked the wrong birds for my area. i live in

n. calif where the summers cant get 110. i have 6 arrac and

6 orps. they are only 3 months old now so iam hoping that

they will addap to the temps they came from same area so maybe

the will handle it. if not i may have to put a small swamp

cooler for them.there run for now has a tarp and there is

a lot cool air in ther coop any suggestions would be greatly

appr. iam new at this

I think they will be fine with cold water and some shade...i guess.
Hope i helped.

Some ideas to help them with the heat:

Cross ventilation - put up a ceiling fan or a box fan in a window to get the air moving inside the coop. A swamp cooler would be wonderful!!

Plenty of shade and fresh, cold water as often as possible during the day.

Use large pop bottles, put water in them and freeze them. Lay them around the coop so the chickens can lay against them if they chose - they can also help cool things down a little as they thaw. I have twice as many as I think I need so that half are in the freezer while half are being used.

Keep an eye on your chickens, you can tell a lot just by watching their behavior.
