I have some chicks that i would like to start taking them outside for a while at a time but it is just so hot and humid. they about 2 weeks old and still have a lot of fuzz on them. the temp out side is 91 rite now. I was wanting to know how dose taking them outa the AC work on little chicks.

it warmer outside than it is in the brooder were they are.

thanks sam

The temp is pretty good outside for chicks and in some books ive read 91 is the recommended temp so let them run around but only for short periods of time and keep them supervised.

thanks

so the humidity dosent hurt the little chicks that come out of the AC from the house.

You would have to watch them and see how they do, and be very careful that the sun isn't hitting the area where they are and heating it up above 90.

Just like in a brooder, they need to be able to get to somewhere cooler.

The chicks will let you know by there behavior. Let them out but keep an eye on them. If they show signs that the heat is getting to them, get them inside to cool off. Look for excessive panting etc....

how long should they be outside for the frist time if they do ok

thanks sam

maybe half an hour at most
