You might have a cold spot? Have you checked the temp on that specific side with another thermometer? Maybe put them on the other side?
I staggered the houdan eggs in the incubator with smallish brahma eggs and 8 developed up to day 18 and died in lockdown sometime… this has happened over 6 times. I am incubating a batch of 4 houdan eggs with a bunch of duck eggs right now, hopefully they will hatch with some eggs their own size

Have you ever Incubated duck eggs with chickens eggs? From what I understand (bc I haven't actually done duck eggs yet) the duck eggs require very high humidity throughout the incubation period, much higher then chicken eggs. I know a lot of breeders that actually mist their duck eggs daily just to keep the humidity high enough to have a decent hatch. That's the reason I ask if you've ever done them together before. Wondering if so, what your hatch rate was on each type?

My next guess would be genetics or nutritional issues. Do you use any kind of breeder supplement? What brand/variety of feed do you use?

Oh crap i have been keeping the humidity at 25-40% like i usually do.. first time with duck eggs. I hatched over 100 houdan eggs from this hen and rooster last year so it wouldnt be genetics. I did switch the feed tho.. not sure what brand it is. Its just regular layer ration

I would look into nutrition. As a heads up this is company and their products are really great. Fertrell. They make something called "poultry Nutri-Balancer-and a show and breeder supplement" here is a link to their website.

Prices on the site include shipping and handling just so you are aware 😊

Dont think they ship to canada lol

Duck eggs don't need anything different than chicken eggs accept a week extra. Misting isn't necessary.
Both my Silkies and I have hatched duck eggs.
Sorry no idea on the Houdans. Seems strange when you were able to previously hatch their eggs and other eggs have hatched in the same conditions.

I emailed them actually because I wasn't sure myself. Here is the response:

We do have a dealer in Canada that organizes shipments of our products. Not all minerals are available in Canada, due to their regulations. If you are interested, please feel free to reach out to Ingrid Benson at TIGA Acres for more information. You can call them at 403-915-2102 or email at [email protected]. They also have a website: www.tigaacres.com. Ingrid would be able to help you out with what they offer and how often they order.

I have actually listened to some of the interviews Tiga Acres has done with Fertrell and I quite enjoyed them.
