Hi there, as far as I know you cannot housebreak a chicken. You should allow your chickens to have free feed. They are not like dogs where you give them meals. Do you only have one chicken?Anyone have any tips of pre poop signals besides leg stretching or after eating & sleeping ? Also should I only feed meals vs free feed to have better odds & how often /how much per day for a 3 Wk old or ANY tips at all
Ya I know that ... I live in Key west where chickens are wild . They have strong family units & generally live forever in the trees the mother taught them to sleep in & eat bugs & scraps in a 4 or 5 block area during the day . I had 17 of 3 generations in my yard til neighbors complained & feed about 30 or 40 at my cart. I just happen to have rescued a stray baby that wanders into my yard w a hen & 10 chicks & everytime it goes outside they try & kill it . I've read it's possible w a clicker & worms don't figured some other crazy chicken pp might have tried . It won't leave my side & rides on my shoulder at 3 wks so may as well try ! I saw those but they have to be old enough for to have tail feathers ..so u think just wait it out til diapers ??Chickens poop whenever they feel like it, wherever they feel like it. That's the beauty raising chickens.
Your chickens should have access to food 24/7. They eat small portions throughout the day. There are exceptions to meal feeding, like if they fee-range, but even then it would be wise to have a feeder available.
Seems like you want indoor chickens, correct? You could invest in chicken diapers. Is it just one chick?
