Thank for the PR Michael.
Yes, my friend has had house chickens (various breeds) over the past 25 years. She also had a silkie that loved hanging out the car window like a dog. People could not believe it wasn't a little "foo foo" dog. Based on my friends experiences, I've only known her for 8 years, seramas and silkies seem to do the best in the house. She doesn't diaper them ( it would be a real pain putting on, taking off many times a day). She just cleans up as soon as she sees a mess. Her house does NOT smell. She currently has 2 seramas and 2 silkies.
When she leaves the house, the chickens lay by the door with the dog. When she comes home they mob her. In the evening they crowd onto the chair to watch tv with her.
I do recommend the "people with house chickens thread." - there is no "right" way to manage house chickens. You do what works in your situation. It is good if they get some outdoor time with supervision- like when she does yard work but they are perfectly happy in the house.
