House finch babies

I hope they're ok tonight. It's going to be about 50. I reckon momma would hold them tight though.

She sits on them during the daytime so I'm sure she is on them tonight!

Can you believe it was 87 yesterday? It was downright cold today after that!

Thank you, I think my DD and her friend are cute too.

I do water my plant, I just water it very slowly on the opposite side from the nest. The nest is up just a tad higher than the soil so if I water it slowly enough, the water seems to soak into the soil and doesn't go into the nest.

Good for you! That's perfect! You get your cake and you get to eat it too!

And watching the little ones fly from the nest is sooo adorable.

That is too cute. If it wasn't for the fact that I have so many wild birds and babies in my yard, I would be over run with every kind of domestic bird. I think I pay as much for wild bird seed every month as I do dog food.

This blows my mind. The original pics of these baby birds were taken on 5/24, less than 2 weeks ago. Look at them today (they were hot too!)

With feathers like this, I don't expect to see them very much longer.

The babies all flew the coop over the weekend. Now someone has built a new nest in the other hanging basket on the porch.
