My girl is such a sweety, even though she is on eggs. I doubt I would be able to say the same if she had a mate. I found a gaggle of 10 embden geese on a nearby farm. 7 girls, 3 boys, which I think would have been ideal as company for her. ( I've got the two white leghorn chicks running around the garden and she walks after them muttering much better. I don't think she thinks they are hers, but she seems to know what should be hatching from her eggs. She must have hatched out a brood before. I feel sorry for her). The farmer has said she is welcome, but he is selling the property in two years time, which I am not happy with. Who knows what'll happen to the birds on his farm and they may even develop the area into a townhouse complex. I want to find her a good home, where I can visit. Oh to have a piece of land of my own![]()

All you have to do is take a few of her eggs out when you add the new ones she'll not know the difference. My goose sat on fake ceramic eggs and didn't know the difference. then each day slip out the rest until all her eggs are gone and she is only on the fertile one. Of course she has to be full time broody to do this. You can also introduce gosling to her she will most likely take them too. You're brilliant!!!! I never thought of getting fertile eggs for her! Now I have to do my homework to find out how to introduce the eggs to her etc. Thanks Miss Lydia![]()
watched several of your Cas videos on YouTube. He's such an angel cutie.Lol...You might think my relationship with Cas is weird, but at his curious nibbly stage there's NO WAY he's gonna be in the shower with me! OMG! LOLOLOL
Cas thinks that paper towels are for eating. They're some yummy treat that I'm keeping him from having it seems. Cleaning up an Oops he's made with paper towel involves holding him back with one hand and cleaning up with the other. Silly geese!
While it might bother you that he became afraid of paper towels after that, you probably saved his life and that's completely worth it. Not only can paper towel cause an obstruction, but one with cleaning supply on it...Better to scare them of things that could harm them then pay a price down the road, right? And, with House Geese it becomes our job to teach them what's dangerous and what's not. Good job to you for keeping him safe.
I'm going through a similar thing with Cas. I HAVE to teach him to be afraid of cars, but so far, I'm not having much luck. Our house is bordered on a street in the front and an alley in the back that cars rip through, and when he gets spooked he bolts. The last time I barely managed to grab a leg and trip him so I could get him just before a car flew past in the alley. I think I may have to go more drastic and instill an actual FEAR of cars for his safety, but I worry that will make him afraid of car rides too, so I'm kind of torn...
