They're super super cute! I like the split faced one!

Now, sorry to hijack your thread, but I had a question. My hedgehog has a white stripe down his nose so his mask is split in half, and has a half pink nose. What is that called? Partial blaze? She said there was some name for it.

Thanks everyone Nala has been very protective of her brood today. Hopefully she'll tucker out tonight and let me handle them. The blaze face baby is an explorer! This is the 3rd time I've caught her out of the hut while the others are nursing!


No need to apologize, star. Your little boy is an Algerian (though barely) dark grey blaze face. If he has any pinto spots on the body, then he's an Algerian dark grey pinto with blaze face. He could have half/half ears but I can't tell if he does or it's just the flash from the camera. Is he doing any better now?

. We got him anitbiotics and all of the weird lumps went away. The vet thought it was some sort of infection- or a allergic reaction to the aspen. Either, way, he's doing much better. Yes, he's a pinto (he has a bit white butt). Wow. Algerian dark grey blaze face pinto! That's one long name. His ears look the same- I don't know what half/half ears mean but they're the same color.

If you have wheels with your hedgie's, what kind do you have? We have the wodent wheel which is a pain to clean (I posted today about it, I'm not sure if you saw). Today, after reading that it was really unsafe for hedgies, we ordered the carolina storm wheel, which is apparently the best hedgie wheel and has GREAT reveiws.

That's great! It is. He's definitely a full blaze face. Partial blaze faces don't have the pink nose. Half/half means part of the ear is dark, and part of it is white due to the pinto gene. You can see on the split face and blaze face pictures, they both have a half/half ear.

I'm fairly sure they are all girls except for the pinto face. But I was so excited yesterday there's no telling!

I've went through a several different types of wheels and I don't have any right now, as I'm in the middle of switching over to a bin system. As soon as my funds get up, I'll probably try to make my own bucket wheels, or order some whisper wheels/CSW's. Carolina storm wheels are great! I haven't had one yet but I've seen several of them in use. Whisper wheels or bucket wheels are also good, though WW are a bit hard to clean.

I should only keep one with my long waiting list to fulfill, and I'm stuck between keeping the split face girl and the pinto boy. I'm just so attached to the split face girl... but I really should keep the male. I just don't know yet!

Well, I finally decided to keep the pinto face boy. He's got the best temperament and a rare coloration.

The really dark "girl" was actually a little boy!

Nala's just bone tired and even worse for her, the babies are now brave enough to follow her out of the nest. Poor girl!

They're 4 weeks and 2 days today. I've only got 2-3 more weeks with the precious things!
